Shan Cha | “Wild tea”
Yu Chi, Nantau, Taiwan
Rare tea made from wild tea leaves harvested high in the mountains from wild old bushes. Unique tea due to its special varietal. Very aromatic and sweet tea with unique taste profile.
Made from first spring tea leaves, harvested from wild old bushes high in a mountains of Nantau area is one of the most amazing red teas I've ever tried. Due to a special varietal Camellia Sinensis var. Formosensis and handmade traditional production this tea has a unique taste profile. Due to a wild mountainous area, harvesting is very difficult and this tea is being made in a little quantity.
Even in a dry condition this tea has very unique, sugary fragrance. Some berries, flowers and honey. After rinsing aroma develop into exotic fruit notes, like mango and pineapple. The taste is gentle and sweet, with notes of baked fruits, dried apple, honey, marmalade and plum. Soft texture with sweet long-lasting aftertaste. Super sweet sugary aroma in aroma cup with notes of cotton candy, raspberry and ice cream.
