Da Hong Pao | “Big Red Robe”
Ma Tou, Wuyishan, Fujian, China.
One of the classic highly fermented "rock oolong". Heavy roasted. Exquisite tea with extraordinary taste and aroma. This is the highest mastery tea, which plunges into amazing states, turning tea drinking into something really deep and sacred. It changes in flavor and taste during the process of tea drinking, it warms and immerses in a state of peace and harmony.
Rock oolongs are a special type of tea, the production process is the most complex in the world. A lot depends on the quality of tea leaves, the skill of the master and of course on our ability to properly brew and appreciate this tea.
This Da Hong Pao was assembled and made in 2006, after which it was aged for 13 years in earthenware jars. Once a year, the master took out and roasted tea to remove excess moisture and to finally stop the fermentation process. Smoked and at the same time sweet taste, very fragrant with a long, deep finish. With character and obvious tea state, like aged cognac.
Harvest: Spring, 2006.
"Here is a real symphony, starting from the first breath, ending with the last drop of the infusion! This is the experience when no words describe the divine that carries this tea."
Andrei Ivanov (IPN.LV Tea master)
